Project Description:The ventilation system project for Alanya Keykubat University Hospital involves designing a high-efficiency, energy-saving system that meets healthcare standards. Since hygiene and indoor air quality must be maintained at the highest level in a hospital environment, the equipment and air distribution systems used in the project were carefully selected.
Project Scope:
Determining appropriate air exchange rates for operating rooms, intensive care units, patient rooms, and outpatient clinics.
Integrating HEPA filters and UV-C disinfection systems to maintain hygienic air conditions.
Designing heat recovery systems to enhance energy efficiency.
Planning smoke exhaust and pressurization systems in compliance with fire safety regulations.
Optimizing air distribution through airflow analyses of duct networks.
Calculations and Engineering Studies:
Airflow Calculations: Required airflows were calculated per ASHRAE and TS EN 13779 standards.
Heat Gain and Loss Analysis: Thermodynamic analyses were conducted to maintain stable indoor temperatures.
Static Pressure and Fan Selection: The most efficient fans were selected, and pressure losses in duct systems were minimized to reduce energy consumption.
Smoke Control and Fire Safety Calculations: Pressurization and exhaust systems were designed for emergency scenarios.
Acoustic Calculations: Silencers and sound insulation measures were planned to maintain low noise levels in the hospital environment.
Software and Technical Documentation Used:
Design: AutoCAD, Revit MEP
Calculations: HAP (Hourly Analysis Program), Ductsize, McQuay Duct Sizer
Analyses: CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis), HVAC load calculation tools
Results and Contributions:
Through this project, a ventilation system was designed to uphold hygiene standards, ensure efficiency, and promote sustainability in a hospital environment. The engineering calculations performed improved indoor air quality while optimizing energy consumption. All systems were designed and implemented in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
